Description

The latest release by Tijuana’s double Latin Grammy-nominated electronica leaders, who can also be heard on HBO’s “Big Love,” the movies “Fast Food Nation” and “Babel,” as well as the video games “FIFA Soccer” and “FIFA Street 2.”

Album Notes

Tijuana’s electronica leaders Nortec Collective have announced the release of ‘Bostich + Fussible: Tijuana Sound Machine’ (Nacional Records). Fans are already familiar with the stylings of Bostich and Fussible as they were the masterminds behind hit tracks “Tengo La Voz”, “Tijuana Bass”, and “Tijuana Makes Me Happy” off the double Latin Grammy-nominated album, ‘Tijuana Sessions, Vol. 3’. The new album will be available at digital outlets on April 29th, just in time for Cinco De Mayo, and the CD will be in stores on May 6th.

Nortec Collective scored two Latin Grammy nominations for ‘Tijuana Sessions, Vol. 3’ (2005), including “Best Alternative Music Album” and “Best Recording Package”. Latin America’s most important electronic act received glowing praise for the album from such prestigious outlets as Rolling Stone, LA Times, XLR8R, and the NY Times, and saw the release hit #1 on top digital retailers iTunes and eMusic in the first week of its release.

The group’s music has appeared in commercials for Volvo, Dell, Fidelity Mutual, Edwin Jeans (with Brad Pitt), Nissan, and many others. Tracks from ‘Tijuana Sessions, Vol. 3’ can also be heard in HBO’s “Big Love”, NBC’s “Friday Night Lights” and the movies “Fast Food Nation” and “Babel” as well as the video games, “FIFA Soccer” and “FIFA Street 2.” An interactive coffee table book entitled “Paso del Nortec- This Is Tijuana” dedicated to the Nortec phenomena was released in the US, Mexico and Europe. In addition, professor Alejandro Madrid, a musicologist and cultural theorist at University of Illinois - Chicago, recently released “Nortec-Rifa! Electronic Dance Music From Tijuana To The World”.

There is a change of schedule for Frankly Speaking this week, to enable Frank Roberts to visit a variety of doctors, for a variety of tests, and a variety of bodily intrusion. (ouch!)

The show will be heard Wednesday and Thursday, and the new schedule will begin the following week, with 90 minutes, starting at 10 a.m. every Monday and Thursday. Still — plenty to enjoy. And, to add the enjoyment there will be music. So, Frankly Speaking will be words and music.

This Wednesday’s guest will be Northeastern North Carolina’s gingerbread queen. Carol Hammer makes, creates, distributes, and sells her very own gingerbread - good looking and good tasting.

On Thursday, we will introduce you to Rebecca Holloman, who replaced Leslie Manning in the production department at College of the Albemarle. Leslie is going back to school, but will still be a regular guest.

The WAVE Is The First Non-Stop Homegrown Music Showcase, And Also The First And Only Syndicated Radio Show Of Its Kind.

About your host “Carmen Allgood”:

Just for the record, more than 15,000 independent artists have been featured on The Colorado Wave, with a lot more to come. Check it out! Submit your own music for airplay. Tell somebody already! This is YOUR music we’re playing here… MUSIC SUBMISSION INFO is on our BandBiz page, go there.

I also produce the Indie Music Wave and co-host the Indie Traffic Jam with my good buddies, John Anderson (On The Horizon Radio Network) and Mark Maverick (Station Manager Indie 104 iradioLA.com, named Best Internet Station 2006 and 2007!!!). The Wave is syndicated nationally and carried by more than 100 affiliates. They said it couldn’t be done.

Meanwhile, since we are all one, this is really about us. Personally (for those who are interested) I love and support independent music, and have been producing homegrown music shows for radio broadcast for 21 odd years…right now I’ll say I was the first DJ to do this, until someone comes along to change that…

I teach and study Love and am a Loveologist…this energy is of prime interest to all of us, and I’m more than curious about how Love operates and functions.

Here is the Answer to what confronts us today. Hope everyone is having a great moment…BTW, my name isn’t really The Colorado Wave…you can call me Carmen. ALSO…you can hear this great music show ON DEMAND or subscribe to a podcast. Check our ON AIR page for details The Colorado Wave
